Golden Globes 2013: Best & Worst

I keep seeing all the pictures from the Golden Globes popping up and I can't help but feel really disappointed with the outfits this year. I thought a lot of the celebrities got some parts of their outfits right and then other parts really wrong! We saw lots of nudes, blacks, as well as reds and blues, I've chose my best and worst from each colour range.

Nudes

Best: Isla Fisher in Reem Acra
Perfect nude tones for her colouring, her hair and make up compliment the look too. The slimline fit of the dress is understated and works because of the embellishment detail which adds the luxe factor. She doesn't need much jewellery because of the embellishment so has kept that to a minimum, the only thing I would have changed is the clutch, I think the black is slightly too harsh against the paleness but she looks amazing nonetheless. 

Worst: Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad

I think a lot of people may disagree with me here after seeing other best and worst lists, it seems the general opinion is that she looks amazing. I'm just not a fan of this look right now, it reminds me of an ice skating costume combined with a doily. I feel like she does this sort of look again and again, would be nice to see her do something different. I do like her hair, make up and accessories though.

Black

Best: Kristen Wiig in Michael Kors

I love the understated simplicity of this gown, with the twist being the midriff cut out. It looks amazing on her, especially paired with natural tousled hair and simple gold jewellery. She looks good without looking like she's tried too hard, effortless chic :)

Worst: Debra Messing in Donna Karen

This dress does nothing for Debra Messing, the horizontal neckline cuts her off and makes her look wide. I noticed this line on a lot of the dresses this year and hated every single one, it is such an unflattering look. Another thing I dislike about this look is the armful of bangles and the oversized earrings, I just don't think anything really goes with each other.

Reds/Oranges

Best: Zooey Deschanel in Oscar De La Renta

Beautiful bold colouring, big skirt and flattering SWEETHEART neckline! Paired with some classic big pearls I think this looks gorgeous. Simple and not overdone! Only bad point is the creases in the dress but how are you meant to get there without moving and creating creases so I guess I can let her off.

Worst: Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

This one I definitely know won't agree with everyone because all I've heard is about this dress. Don't get me wrong though, some parts are really right. I think the silhouette is beautiful and the metal belt really highlights her waist. I also love the colour, but I can't stand the strange bust area?! It really throws me and of course the horizontal cut just isn't my taste! 

Blues

Best: Nicole Richie in Naeem Khan

I think that very busy and embellished dresses suit a much more streamlined shape, and that is exactly what Nicole Richie has gone for. The sheer sleeves really highlight the detail and nude under the body keeps it more classic. The blue shades really compliment her colouring and she has accessorised it will with dark nails and delicate jewellery. The thing that I would have to change would be her eye make up; the blue is too matchy matchy, I think a golden dark brown would have been more complimentary,

Worst: Jessica Chastain in Calvin Klein

The colour is beautiful on her but its the loose draping of the halter neck that I can't get over. It looks too loose and creates a 'saggy' effect. Not good. On the other hand, I love her simple accessories and her hair and make up are beautiful, her lipstick really suits the colour of the dress.
